UPDATE: Woolworths expansion plans at the Chancellor Park Marketplace are a step closer, with a public notice displayed on Chancellor Park Blvd. & University Way. You have until 17 August 2015 to make comment to Sunshine Coast Council via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Woolworths Management at Chancellor Park have confirmed reports that the store is planning a massive expansion and renovation to their Chancellor Park Marketplace store.
The plan is to expand into the side car park (see photo below) and create a new shopping experience for residents of Chancellor Park.
It will be business as usual with minimal disruption to customers, during the expansion phase. “Work will be carried out after hours, so shoppers will not even notice any changes to the store at first.”
The exciting news is that Woolworths will be opening a Cafe and Pizza Bar in the extension (including gourmet pizza ovens and a Barista making fresh coffee), as well as offering another 6 aisles of shopping.
It is possible that the existing sushi bar will move to the other side of the store, which is manned by sushi chefs to make rolls in front of customers.
Woolworths has opened similar cafés in South Australia. It is also hoped that there will be coffee roasters, and a resident “foodie” to give shoppers tips on what to make with their fresh produce (unconfirmed at this stage), as in other stores around the country.
Work was due to commence soon.
