There are Southbound Bruce Highway changes and bridge demolition works in Tanawha.
Southbound Bruce Highway traffic diverted onto new bridge over Sunshine Motorway
Southbound Bruce Highway traffic will be diverted onto the new bridge recently opened over the Sunshine Motorway from tomorrow morning, weather and construction conditions permitting. A new southbound highway Exit 194 to the Sunshine Motorway will also open to traffic.
To facilitate these traffic changes, the following temporary ramp closures will be in place tonight between 8pm and 5am (weather permitting):
• The southbound highway entry from the Sunshine Motorway. A detour will be available via the Mons Road interchange.
• The southbound highway Exit 194 to the Sunshine Motorway. A detour will be available via the southbound highway Exit 190 and Pignata and Frizzo roads.
Bridge demolition works at Sunshine Motorway interchange
Demolition works have been completed on the old Bruce Highway northbound bridge over the Sunshine Motorway.
From Sunday 16 February 2020 for approximately one week (weather and construction conditions permitting), bridge demolition works will be conducted at night on the old Bruce Highway southbound bridge over the Sunshine Motorway.
The bridge demolition works are required to be undertaken at night for safety reasons due to their close proximity to live traffic. Night works will be carried out from Sunday to Thursday, 7pm to 5am.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of the Sunshine Motorway under the Bruce Highway bridge will be closed at night during the demolition works. Eastbound traffic will detour via the Mons Road interchange. Westbound traffic will detour via Pignata Road (Exit 190), Frizzo Road and the Bruce Highway northbound to Exit 194.
Traffic controllers and police will be present to assist motorists if required. Motorists are advised to follow directional signage and allow extra travel time.
Where possible, priority access through the work zone will be given to emergency vehicles.
